Artec truss and gussets

I have decided not to use the Artec truss. It seems like a 50-50 shot at getting it right. And with the test fit I just didn't feel confident in it. To many opportunities for something to go wrong.
Going to see if Dave at Northridge will let me send the truss back and get a sleeve kit.
I was actually very impressed with the fitment of the gussets. Artec definitely did those right. With smart welding we saw Zero movement in the axle.

Are those EVO c2 gussets?

Hmm, just looked at the Evo ones. Damn near identical. I had never seen them before. Wonder who came out with their design first.

Learning stuff here..... Axles sleeves seem to be better, stronger and more reliable than trusses? Am I tracking correctly on this?

So are you saying tubes AND gussets? Want to make my dana 44s as strong as possible....

Don't waste your money on sleeves. Just do the gussets and call it a day. He was saying the sleeves won't help to prevent the axle housing from bending where it meets the diff (where the majority of the bent stock housings are damaged).

^^^^Exactly. Definitely add C - gussets. A truss could prevent the tubes from bending at the diff as long as the installation itself doesn't bend your tubes. I had gussets and sleeves on my 44 (no truss) and after a few years with 37's the tubes eventually bent at the housing. I have since upgraded to a PR 44.

It is true but in all fairness, I've only been seeing the bending occur on Jeeps with coil overs. If you're just rock crawling or play in the mud, you should be okay even without sleeves or a truss. It's speed that ultimately does you in - nothing beats up a Jeep more and breaks things like bombing through the desert.

BTW, you can get home just fine with a bent axle housing. What you should really be concerning yourself with are your axle shafts and making sure that you're not running a ring & pinion ratio that is on the weak side.

HD axle shafts are definitely on my list of to do projects. Had asked earlier, is the stock rubicon air locker sufficient for now or should I think about ARB lockers? Running 35s right now, plan on upping it to 37's with beadlocks at some point but that should be as far as that goes...

Plus there's not a lot of desert out here on the east coast. Mostly trail riding, some mud and snow but honestly nothing very hard core
