DIY Spod- Waytekwire

Dude! I have the same case, but have a 2011 and think I'm goinh to mount it to the left side of the head unit, but haven't put much into the plate system I'd have to fab up of some sort....

It's so awesome! I could roll the jeep over and that thing is staying put! :) I love it!

Well I managed to get the battery, the relays and master circuit breaker installed.

So far it's coming out the way I had hope :D

Does your phone wiggle a little on the roloform mount?

Nope not one bit. But my jeep is not my daily driver though. For my work van I use the magnet.

If yours is warn down I probably have 2 or 3 more unused mounts if you need a replacement.

I've had them laying around the house honestly. They are Raptor/Stinger brand... Same company.

I'll dig out the package and find the part number.

That would be cool if you could post it up! I definitely would be interested as well :yup:

Ok so apparently I threw out the package already and the trash was emptied. Soooo I did a little digging online and apparently they no longer make that style. I have to go down my parents house this week; I have a lot of leftover stock (installation type gear) there from when I had my car shop open, so I'll see if there are any more leftover.

Since I can't seem to find them anywhere… I'll talk to my friend and see what it would take to make them for us. He manages a machine shop, and has access to a WaterJet and other equipment like that. I'll find out what it would cost to make them.

In the mean time, if you don't mind doing a little custom work yourself… you can buy these StreetWire terminals:

http://www.mtx.com/bt2pf-streetwires-battery-terminal
http://www.mtx.com/bc2n-streetwires-battery-terminal

Then instead of installing a fuse install a copper bar across them and that will provide you with the 2 extra posts to use.

Once I get the install complete I'll do a write up with the parts I used and so on. I'm pretty OCD, so most people won't have the need to to install their equipment this way. But after working in the car audio business and having a ridiculous amount of people bring me their cars to "fix" the installation some other clown installed, I just do everything right the first time… plus there's less likelihood of your vehicle burning to the ground if its installed correctly ;)

Really appreciate you looking for the part number and your alternate suggestions. Strange they would be discontinued. The closest thing I could find were these on Amazon: ASIN B00GWEY0YA

Since you really seem to know your stuff when it comes to electrical, I think I'll wait to see your write-up. I really am impressed by this entire thread. You guys have really done a great job of documenting and building your own power distribution systems. :clap2:

I'm still kinda digesting all this but I may start collecting the pieces so I can build one for my JK.

That's not too bad, and fairly close to the same idea. I ended up finding the package at the bottom of the trash barrel… That's right I went dumpster diving to find these part numbers. lol Turns out I pitched them in there after the trash man came, so that's the good news. The bad news is that they are using the same part numbers for the new version of the same part. So it didn't help us one bit. lol Go figure…

As for you considering building your own… although it looks hard… its not. Its just a matter of planning it all out; even planning for those things you may want to add in the future. I built and installed mine with 2 spare circuits and 2 other circuits that are in prep for my 50" light bar and the rock/windshield lights.

If you need a hand just let us know. One of us can give you a hand, in sure. Until then  :D

Dumpster diving...LOL :cheesy: I really do appreciate you looking for the part numbers! I will definitely be planning this project out soon. I'll probably need some help along the way so thanks in advance for offering to help. :yup:

Of course there are the battery terminals, ring terminals, electrical tape and so on... but this should get everyone going... if you have questions PM me and I'll give you my number and email and we can figure out what you need that way.

Oh and as for the switches and the spod I made... if you need help with either building one yourself I'll be doing a complete "how-to" over the next 2 weeks or so. So stay tuned ;)
