Overlanding Gear

So what camp kitchen are you all using? Likes, dislikes, etc.?

I'm picking one up soon and am interesting in some feed back. So far, I'm looking at the Coleman Pack-Away, Coleman Pack-Away Deluxe, and REI Camp Kitchen. If I had a trailer I'd consider the Grub Hub but it is pricey and seems too big for the Jeep.

Not sure what these setups run, but I know both Cabelas and BassPro have there versions and are usually in the 180 range. Right now Cabelas has a $20 off a purchase over 100 online or in store. The pack up just as small and it has an extra "table" to the both sides of the center section.

I don't have any experience with any of these but my input would be go with REI. Just seems like it's always been easier to deal with them if you have issues.

Agreed. Only problem is some of the reviews are not that good. Sounds like the screws strip out of the bottom of the table tops because of the type of pressboard used.

Thanks, I'll check them out. These are all sub- $100 setups. If I was getting up into the $200 range, I'd spend the extra and get a grub hub. They are amazing...just very big and not cheap ($350+).

Here's mine, Sharkey, used it last weekend:

Lol. When we go car camping, we use two of those roll-up collapsible tables with the shock cords inside. Family of 5 and they work fine, don't take up too much storage space either. Each of our tables is about 3' x 3' . Example:

Lol! Been there, done that (snow kitchen). I have a roll-up table from my rafting days and often bring it. It definitely works well. I am just thinking about getting something a little more purpose driven.

The first one looks like the one I have. But you know that already. Works great. Little big, but you don't have as much space issue as I have.

Yep, I think that is the same as yours. It is actually the smallest of the three I have looked at.

The REI table isn't as nice as the first gen one. I would do the regular Coleman for the price personally. I've used that before.

I saw that. Did the sale start already? I have a double and agree that it is great!

Edit: Just looked at your pic...sale starts on the 20th.

I have owned the first one in your picks, I think I picked it up a either Sports mart or Walmart. I have used it regularly sense 2008. It is still in perfect condition. The only thing that I would tell you to keep an eye on it when you place a paper towel rool over the lamp hanger be sure the have some way to keep the roll from flying off in the wind. Lol it has happened more then once. Keep forgetting a rubber band. It really does make a great cooking area. And it is very small and compact. Perfect for the Jeeper. Best part is the price compared to the other kitchens. You just have to sort of bounce the units up and down. Do not force anything. If you do, it will bend on you so just kinda shake it into shape, it's easy enough to do and is up and down in just a few minutes.
I have looked at all of these including Base Pro Shops version. If I buy new, it will be the bass pro only because of feature and the top one was hard to find.

You should get a mailer with a 20% off coupon too. Not sure if they can be combined.
