So that we're clear, this is a FREE giveaway as in, it costs you NOTHING to enter. If you want a shot at winning, you need to play by the rules. If you think the rules are ridiculous, you don't have to play. :)

I always thought it was exciting to hang on the other forum and see who won. Apparently some people really want to do nothing to get something.

I don't find monitoring my email for two hours waiting for a notification on something you are unlikely to win to begin with a good use of my time. Besides, most of you will most likely be traveling, coming home from work, and blow the 5 minute requirement to respond. It's simply unreasonable and nothing gained by such a requirement, other than to "play games" with your time. Someone is going to win, so why not allow a reasonable time like one hour, so people can get home from work safely. Hell, I'm retired and I value my time more than that.

And that's great! Please don't enter this FREE giveaway and you won't have to waste any of your precious time. It really is that simple :yup:

Now I have heard it all. Complaining about a FREE giveaway! That's insane.
Seems you can't even give something away without anyone complaining. What's this world coming to.

$10,000,000 super lotto, Ridiculous Requirements! I have to get off the couch, drive to the liquor store, pick numbers at random, fill out the card, pay money, wait, and get results by watching the news. 1 in 300,000,000 chances to win?????........Stupid Requirements!!! :naw:

What a numbnuts. Don't play it's that simple.

Those of us who care about winning will more likely set a reminder for the date and time of the announcement and devote, I know it's a lot of time, 5-minutes or so to see if we've won. I know, I know. Last thing I want to do to have a chance to win something is actually have some responsibility for crying out loud.

I have always liked the way you (Eddie) have run the contests on JK-FORUM.

The picking of the winner and then the count down;

5 minutes to post,
4 minutes to post,
3 minutes to post,
2 minutes to post,
come on 1 minute left.......

next member has 5 minutes to post, etc.

It's like a sporting event and giveaway contest rolled into one.

By the way, I watched 8 hours of football yesterday, I can spare a few minutes on this.

Thank you WOL and EVO.

I think you're a little backwards... 5-7 PST would be 8-10 EST :D just sayin. Which would be even better, you could be sitting down watching the Simpsons, playing on your smartphone waiting for the winner to be picked. Win, Win...

I don't find monitoring my email for two hours waiting for a notification on something you are unlikely to win to begin with a good use of my time.

Theres a free app and it takes two seconds to get on and check.... Not hard to do for something that is FREE!

Does the app show you as logged in? For the guveaways, I always refreshed Safari over and over on my iMac instead of the iPhone, because I wasn't sure if I'd show as logged in with the app.

The app says online in green when you look at your own profile.

ive been a moderator on www.rccrawler.com for almost ten years now. the whole point of having this requirement is so that actual active members win the prize - not joe shmoe in nb who logged in once. also the 5 minute rule makes the giveaway process time not take all night. we have done hundreds if not thousands of giveaways, some with this same requirement . i can tell you this.... one of them we drew 35 people before a person responded in the thread... it took hours!

if you will be traveling during the giveaway then im sorry but your chance of winning might have gone out the window.

there will be other giveaways that you will qualify for - there usually are.

good luck to all who will be logged in watching the site! i shall enjoy the show!

one other crazy thing to watch - is you get to see how many active members there really are - depending on the forums settup - our site has (current logge din members/guests) - durring the christmas giveaways we have thousands of people logged in for these - and all of them had to pay to use the site.

Lets have a look at this, you are retired, YOU HAVE ALL THE TIME, and last time I checked, retired means NOT DEAD YET!, but possibly cranky with the world, the thought of having to take two hours out of your WHOLE day, whilst not at work, was too much of an effort to WIN a FREE prize. Well bugger me don't I look silly getting up half way across the world between, 11 pm and 1 am, in the vein hope I might win. Imagine that!! I might have had to pay the postage that would likely be nearly as much as the FREE prize was worth. Retirement is supposed to be fun! At least that's what I'm hoping for. Good luck to you if you are to jaded to have a go because, two hours is too much out of your already full day of retirement.
(All sarcasm intended)
