How does it make me an asshole if your not scared to go out? Wouldn’t you need to be worried for it to register that I’m not wearing a mask?

Take my comment on the flu as a frustration to our actions and containment on corona . Honestly on the flu we’re actually ahead in urging broad based vaccinations vs EU which doesn’t have as strong a policy .

I get government encroachment on freedoms but do you support rolling back indoor smoking and seatbelt laws too ? Masks are temporary and I honestly can’t figure out why it is such a big deal to wear one .

To respond to the next comment ... I’m not scared to go out . Not wearing a mask doesn’t make you a patriot . Makes you an asshole .

If a business I need to enter, requests masks... i wear it. If a business allows smoking, It's my choice to enter. I wear a seat belt when I Want...(or when I see a cop). Not wearing a mask out in the open DOES NOT make me an Asshole... but hey... if YOU think I'm an Asshole.... that's your right.

See the image . Asshole comment was referring to individuals who refuse to comply with mask rules and berate business owners for trying to protect employees .

Wearing masks as an analogy to smoking is a great one . That’s why most states have passed laws against indoor smoking and why most states are requiring face masks for businesses.

Awesome, glad to hear you like my analogy! That's why I left California as quickly as I could and moved to Nevada, a state where most still believe in FREEDOM. It's also why I'm so happy that people like you still live there. :thumb:

Given 40+% of Americans are considered obese and 40+% have hypertension, the 90% of covid deaths are people who have underlying conditions and would have died anyway argument doesn’t hold much water .

How many of us would that include ?

So why stop with just masks or smoking. Red meat, processed foods, gluten and sugar should all be made illegal too.

Lol. Cough or sneeze through your mask and put your hand in front of your mask to see how much you can feel that gets through. It's fucking stupid. You can feel the air blast; guaranteed a fucking microscopic virus gets through. The masks are for retards like you to to feel better about being a slave to the system. I don't have much time to talk more about it as I'm in the middle of setting up a chain link fence to fix my mosquito problem.

I don't know how things work for you guys in Germany, but here in America, we love freedom, we're sick of being told what to do and how to do it, we're sick of watching the entire country suffer because of this governmental over-reach, and we're sick of some of the population in this 'free' country go along with it. Heaven forbid we actually let this virus take it's course and people become immune to it without being slaves to masks and government overreach and all this other bullshit that will cripple us indefinitely. I know it may be tough to turn off the screens that brainwash you, but there are actually people and communities out there that no longer give a fuck about this whole thing and are actually enjoying their lives, disobeying the mask mandates, and watching hummingbirds and flowers and life still goes on, America is still great, and FUCK anyone else that thinks otherwise. Just a thought.

I actually took the courage last night to step out of the house with my kids and NO MASK and NO SOCIAL DISTANCING and catch fireflies. I'm still alive if you can believe that. You should try it. Don't be scared. Get out there and be free. It's a tough first step, but there's a whole world out there once the media is turned OFF.

Glad to hear you're getting out with the family. Cindy and I have been insisting upon it and thank god, everyone else in our neck of the woods is too. And guess what, we STILL HAVE some of the lowest numbers anywhere.

Oh.. right.. lol... Honestly though... do you think All business owners really give a shit... or are they just scared of being shut down? They should have a choice... not an order from the State. We were in Big Bear a month ago... we entered a shop in the village and the lady says, "FYI, you don't have to wear those in here"... My whole family immediately removed them. I bought $50 of stupid shit for my kids just because I liked her so much and felt bad for how much business she has lost because of fear mongers.

I went to buy a battery at the repair shop for my work truck the other day. Was in there for 2 minutes and they asked me to wear a mask. I said I’ll wait outside. That’s alameda county.

Went to ace hardware and the grocery store in my small town yesterday and today and nobody gave a shit that I wasn’t wearing a mask. Those places will continue to get my business.

The novel coronavirus isn’t the flu . It doesn’t have a vaccine . I’d guess that there is a large overlap between those that refuse vaccinations and those that don’t understand the need to wear a mask or social distance . Maybe 60k could be a lot lower too if we weren’t in our own way. No other country has these issues .

Arizona (pop 7M) has comparable number of new covid cases as Europe .

You didn’t answer the question. If wearing a mask saves lives, why not wear one for the rest of your life? Do only lives saved from Covid matter?

You seem like a bright guy...you have to understand that there are a multitude of respiratory viruses that collectively kill tens of thousands (if not hundreds) of people every year. Now that the science is “clear” that masks saves lives, shouldn’t everyone wear one for the rest of their lives?

Or is it a numbers game? What number of deaths do you consider low enough such that you shouldn’t be burdened with wearing a mask? I’m guessing the powers that be think 50k-70k is an acceptable number of casualties (bad flu season) since they are unwilling to say that everyone should mask up during flu season.

There is a sad irony to all of this. If 95% of the entire population wears a mask for the next 2.5 months, it is only estimated to save between about 15k-30k lives through October...in other words, much less than half of the number of people who die from the flu each year.

So, I ask again, are you committing to wear a mask for the rest of your life? If not, why not? MASKS SAVE LIVES!

You'll forgive me but you don't get shit and clearly, you could never figure it out. YES, I would like businesses to have the right, the FREEDOM to run their business however the fuck they want. It's their business and on their private property - if you don't like it, DON'T PATRONIZE THEIR BUSINESS. As far as seat belt laws go, if you really need a law to convince you to wear one, you're a fuckin moron. Period.

nice. I RESPECT what ANY business allows or would require of me in order to shop there. What I don't agree with is the government or people like you demanding what I can and can't do.

Awesome man. I just participate on this thread to understand how you and others feel about this situation . Helps me understand decision making by others who don’t share my point of view .

I’m not ‘demanding’ that you do anything . Happy for you that you live in a low incident area and so far have been able to do what you do without repercussions .

Unless society is committed to wearing masks forever, the constant comparison to seat belts is silly.

Seat belt laws do not read as follows:

“Seat belts saves lives, but you only have to wear one if you are driving over 30 because that’s when the most number of deaths occur.”

-or-

“Seat belts save lives, but you only have to wear one for the next six months until we get better airbags that prevent deaths from certain specific accidents. (We don’t give a shit about deaths from other kinds of accidents).”

If masks save lives then commit to wearing one forever. Otherwise, you are saying it’s ok to kill some people (or a certain number of people) to avoid a certain level of inconvenience.

So if I'm required to wear a mask to help "protect others" can I slap the piece of pizza out of the fat ass's hand eating it? Can I "educate" the parents of an obese child who they are buying an extra large caramel double blended sugar filled Frappuccino for by yelling at them that they are idiots and killing your child? Again its less about the masks its more about the freedom to be allowed to make our own decisions based upon factual information provided.

If a business owner asks me to wear a mask to enter their store, I respect their wishes. However thays the only time I will wear one. People also don't seem to understand the reasoning behind the fact covering requirements. They are supposed to be to protect others, however any mask with an exhalation valve isn't doing anything to protect others.

Side note the YouTube video posted in this thread about driving with a mask on made me notice several people at Kaiser (patients) wearing 2 masks. An N95 covered with a surgical mask. Don't know how that works...haha.

No, you just think that I'm an asshole. And really, that's cool.

Thanks! It's a shame that you still live in fear and in spite of the fact that LA County has been seeing a decline in deaths.
