Which half ton pickup should I buy?

Any notable midsize trucks would be helpful as well, but I’d prefer a half ton for sure.

I know I'm a little late to this thread but I think HighwayTrout has some solid advice.

That said and I know there isn't a whole lot of love for GM here but when you can afford it, I really like their 1500 with a 5.3L. Relatively affordable for a half ton and I feel like they're real quick/fun to drive for what they are. Certainly, cheaper than a RAM 1500 with a 3.6L and perform better or a least, from what I have seen. I have no experience with F150s and so that we're all on the same page here, you were asking for half tons, right?

I’m curious what exactly is wrong with this? The shag is green with orange accents woven in for reference. Because, you know, orange is the new offroading trim. Otherwise it would be purple.

The guys i know that have DEF diesel trucks seem to always have issues, of the 25 Ford trucks client uses in the oil field, the 10 DEF trucks seem to always be in for repair; granted they work them hard but the previous non DEF diesels ran strong.

Toyota would be solid but I have to say I’ve just never been a fan. Looks wise mainly. The 2UZ and 3UZ V8s were awesome though.

My family actually has mostly GM products other than Jeeps, so I’m pretty familiar with the 5.3 and 6.2 Silverados/Sierras. My dad is actually pretty close to biting the bullet on a Sierra Denali with the 5.3 or 6.2 really soon. Will hopefully get a greater insight there. (His primary vehicle has been a 2006 Hummer H2 with the 6.2 for the last 19 years haha)

And yes! Half tons. 👍
