Need clarification (not to step on any toes)

Lately I've noticed a lot of people selling parts without "giving a wave". While I understand that there is a correct way to join a site I did take the time to read the forum rules. I've noticed that not in one single place of the rules does it state that you must say Hi before you post any place else. If a person first post is in the For Sale/Wanted area the Admin/Mods/Memebers attack the person with "you must say hi before". This is wrong as your rules don't state it and your mods should know the rules. All it says is "Can I be a member just to sell stuff? No. If your only purpose for being a member of WAYALIFE.com is to sell things, your privileges here will be revoked and your account suspended". One single post doesn't not prove a person is here to only sell stuff and while he/she didn't join the way some of did he/she didn't break a single rule of Wayalife and we should take a chill pill. Your not helping your fellow members when you jump on someone who could possible have a great deal for one of us and you run them off before a fellow member can get what they need. I'm just asking if I missed the part in the rules where is say give a wave before you post any place else?

I also don't understand if this is such a big deal to some of you why don't you set up the memberships with a grace period. As in you can't post in for sale/wanted until you reach a certain amount of post or a certain amount of time logged in on the site? It's not a huge deal as my local jeep club has our site set up this way.

This isn't a personal Craig's list. Besides, who wants to send money to a person that nobody knows. I wouldn't let it bother you to much.

If your first post is in the classifieds then your only purpose for being here is to make a sale or buy something. Period, end of story.

As for post count, that doesn't work because people just make dumb posts just to get to that level.

A lot of people join just to sell stuff. If you go and read in the for sale section description it says "if your sole purpose of joining is to sell your stay here will not be for long" or something along those lines

Welcome to Wayalife shadow.

For clarification, what you are witnessing is what some people would call, "the process of deduction."

Perhaps an explanation would help.

So you see some items for sale from a member whom you (maybe a regular Wayalife member) don't recognize. You check the persons profile and see that they have a low amount of posts.... Hmmm this peaks your interest and you check their "latest posts." Low and behold 85% of all their posts or more are on their own for sale thread..

Here's where it gets tricky.... Stay with me here. Perhaps this would tend to show that they are merely "members of Wayalife to sell their stuff" which is a violation of WOL rules.

So while there is no rule saying you must give a wave before selling stuff, it sure shows a persons intentions.

I hope this helps... :thumb:

I think what you're missing is the fact that the people you are chastising are actually trying to help these first time posters by suggesting they introduce themselves BEFORE trying to sell things. This way, they won't be breaking my rules. So far as I'm concerned, a person who chooses to make their first and only post in the for sale sub-forum IS only here to sell their stuff. And, if you want to talk about rules, their membership here should technically just be revoked.

This I agree with but to jump on someone when they make one post? Seem a bit much. When they have 85% of their post on wanted/for sale then I'm 100% up for calling them out on it. I don't contribute much as I'm still learning about all this stuff. I comment where I can but I mostly read.

Let's not forget the members that raise their post count just to wave. Which quite a few are guilty of. As posted "who wants to send money to a person that nobody knows". Yet, unless you truly know a member or have gone on a few runs with them, etc.

Well, 1 post in the sale section is a 100% by that logic. Still not sure why this bothers you.

Was going to explain it the way I did not long ago but with my luck someone might jump out of the bushes again screaming "Here I am!", lmao.

To be perfectly honest I don't actually know anyone on this forum. Also I should say I don't trust anyone on any forum (unless I've physically met them) regardless if you have 1 post of 1million post. That's why I use PayPal as they guarantee me my product or a full refund.

I was thumbing through a section and came across a post that I took as a member being a jack-butt to a new guy. Ya he made a post in the wrong section first but there is a correct way of going about "helping" someone. That's my problem with it.

Well, it is a forum and there will always be someone who says something that you won't like. If it's not directed toward you, I'd try not to let it bother you.

Just trying to speak for your new guys. Being they can't say anything back without being stepped on I figured I'd say something for them.

You're kidding me, right? If these first time posters are big enough to post up their things for sale on my forum, they're certainly big enough to speak for themselves. And, so that there's no misunderstanding - if any of these guys don't like what they hear, nobody is making them stay. :yup:

If they don't like the rules or the way they are applied, they can go somewhere else. It's that simple.

Asking people to give a wave is just a polite way of saying "hey fuckstick, try at least telling us a little about yourself before attempting to rape us with your for sale post."

Not really sure or care how you do things in your jeep club site, but I think the admins mods and regular guests to this wonderful forum can manage just fine.

If you don't like it then go back to your local jeep clubs site since you seem to like it there more
