Sorry for your trouble man. Not good but I am glad you figured it out.
For my set up here in NY I deffinetly use heated mirrors in the winter so the only option is the new set of mirrors
Can't wait to see you complete your set up :thumb::thumb:

I'm jelly I'm not able to take advantage of this weather while mine is being torn apart. Can't wait to see those doors installed!

It is nice here. That being said, I'm dodging pop up showers left and right!

Hey, at least you tried, right? Sorry the outcome wasn't completely what you wanted. I'm looking forward to seeing everything put together tomorrow.

Haha, it's really okay! Honestly, I'm more upset the scratch I put on the driver's side mirror removing the torn wiring harness rather than the actual harness being broken! I'm ready to get everything put together though. The anticipation is killing me!

Congrats, those half doors look great. The rig looks nice without doors at all but those half doors are gonna look killer.
Murphy's law at work here but glad you can work around it.
As for the scratches, a friend of mine bought a black Sahara and put on gloss black mirror covers and door handles.
The mirror covers look good actually and would get your mirrors looking new again.

Two years ago I had a thought that having half doors might be cool. I thought it would be cool to have a place to rest your arm as well as maybe block out some of the wind. Well, today I am thrilled to say that my dream from so long ago has become a reality and is so much better than I anticipated! :)

I was always planning on going with the Bestop Soft doors as they have the look of a full half door without the cost. To be frank though, I've heard they are just poorly made and crappy. I considered other Tube doors but never considered the Rancho ROCKgears as they were out of my budget. Well, after biting the bullet and spending the extra money, I can say it's worth every penny.

The Rancho ROCKGear Tube doors are strong, study, and feel as if they are made to last. They show great quality and I can tell every time I set my hand on them, they are truly a great set of doors. Pair these with the SpiderWebShade skins and you have a match made in half door heaven. These shades fit tight, block wind, and have a FIVE year warranty.

The install went pretty well and took me about 3.5 hours. I did take my time because I made quite a few adjustments. Here are a few snags/things I ran into:

- I could not get the rear doors to latch properly. All seemed like they did not fit and I had about given up when I figured out... they were on the wrong sides of the Jeep. (Face palm)

-the Rancho doors require you to drill your own hole to mount a rubber bushing to control rattling. I hated drilling into a $700 set of doors that I just bought, but it went okay other than having to re-drill two of the holes due to the door rattling with the current bushing placement and needing adjustment. After drilling a second hole and remounting the bushing on each door, no rattle whatsoever :) I used Gorilla tape to cover the extra holes, But I'd like to plug them with something water tight. I will try and find some sort of plug that'll fit 5/32s. Any suggestions?

- one of the said rubber bushings tore apart while mounting in its hole. Will contact Rancho about this for a replacement bushing.

All and all, I am still in disbelief that Steel is finally running a set of half doors. It hasn't set it yet! What I can say is, I took it for a quick test drive around the block, and I did not want to stop driving in it. The doors cut the wind and make running doorless much more enjoyable for me!

Thanks for reading :)

Oh yeah.. pictures!

Here are a few shots of the Rancho ROCKGear Tube doors without the SpiderWeb Skins!

It's a good thing I love them, because this is probably Steel's only big purchase this year!

Looks good. Shades match your Jeep.

Yes sir! I contemplated going with a red shade or even the traditional black, but I went with the grey to get the true half door look. It's not a dead on match with Billet Silver, but I'm definitely glad I went with this cover. I love the SpiderWebShade Skins! The quality is top notch and they don't flap at all!

Look great. Love that you and them on the wrong side so they wouldn't latch. Ha!

As far as plugging the holes you drilled, I've not had good luck with local hardware stores. Amazon has all that stuff though so I'd look there. Basically want a grommet without the hole.

Really glad you're so happy with them! Love the grey. It really does visually change the entire personality of the whole vehicle. I've seen the shade on the inside and outside and both ways look pretty cool. It's surprising how it actually feels so much roomier when running them isn't it? Of course they sit out at least 2 1/2 inches compared to the factory doors. Way awesome!:thumb:
