The oem fenders are plastic. When you hit something, they bend and then bend right back. A solid fender transfers the force right to the body of the Jeep causing the damage. Obviously, even with oem fenders, a hard enough hit could damage the body as well, but if you brush against a tree or rock, it just flexes then flexes right back.

You wouldn't tie something that attaches to the body to the frame. It defeats the body mount isolators. If those are the PS ones they do come with "inner fender" support but you can see how much that helped.

Trimmed fenders would have just folded or torn off, then you can reattach them later with the inexpensive plastic clips.

Yep, I've ripped my OEM front fender off a couple of times on trees (actually if they had been trimmed it may not have caught on the branch at all). They snap right back on with some new clips. I keep some in the Jeep with me. Way easier and cheaper to fix than body damage.

Agreed, tieing fenders into the frame doesn't make much sense. If you want it to be indestructable, get an ugly external cage. Or start with a buggy to begin with.

I did not realize how close those two parks were to each other. Google maps looks like they are both part of the same geological structure.

Any preference / differences between the two parks?

Glad you got thru the weekend with minimal damage.

Tdougherty81, are those the poison spyder ones? I have cut painted factories, but had them on my last jku. Just curious if it was the poison spyder tied into the body or just a knockoff with no tie in.

They basically share fencelines.

Terrain is very similar between the two. Massive gardens and open fields of sticky Granite rock.

Mike is correct. I only ran Wolf Caves but I hear Wolf Caves is better than Katemcy.

Honestly didn't look at them real close and I don't know the owner. My guess they are PS because he had other PS stuff.
