PRESS RELEASE : Meet The New Jeep JK BIG BORE XDII-R

Got mine installed and it works great. Jeep would almost bog down trying to turn sitting still at idle before. However, I’m now curious if it would feel even better if I added the high flow pump / reservoir kit (for 3.8L)? Currently running stock pump with a single pass cooler.. Any of you guys run this with the stock pump then switch to the high flow pump and notice a difference?

Great question! I’d like to know as well.

X3. I wonder myself if it would make a difference.

Bumping this thread, so this has been available for a while now, And I'm getting ready to jump on the Cylinder Assist wagon. Is the Big Bore box worth the extra $300 over the standard cylinder kit? Or stick with the standard box cylinder kit? I want the cylinder either way.

I don't really see a downside with the larger box aside from fitting the LS if/when that time comes. :idontknow:

Is anyone running the big bore box with an LS? is there anything else I should know before diving in?

I have the first big bore box with a Hemi 6.4l, and it went in no problem. I realize it’s not an LS, but there’s still room around the box. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. but My understanding is that the Hemi has quite a different footprint in the frame compared to the LS. Either way it is solid info for this thread :thumb: ... Welcome to WAL BTW...

I went ahead and sent Motech the question on their web page yesterday afternoon, I generally wont bother a vendor unless I am planning on doing business with them right away, but in this case it seemed my concern is rather specific... I do plan on doing my LS swap with the Motech kit when the time comes, but anyway, the auto response said someone would get back to me within 1-2 days. So hopefully they have some info on fitment first hand. I'ed hate to bite off on the $1350 XDII-R box now, only to have to replace it with another $1200 box in a pinch mid swap down the road.

If anyone has any info regarding the XDII-R box fitment w/ an LS, it would be appreciated for others as well I would think. Otherwise, I will continue to wait for Motech's feedback. Either way I'll post what I learn in here for others.

You may check with PSC as well. Someone else may have asked the same question to them too and they might have the answer. Kevin is a great resource there.

Great Advice!

I just got off the phone with "Gatlin" over at PSC and he said the Big Bore XDII-R box will fit with an LS, He mentioned some of the Hemi Swaps are where they are seeing issues with Box Clearance. I still think I am going to wait for confirmation from Motech before biting the bullet since Cory posted above He had no issues with his Hemi, but I have a feeling I know which one I'm going to get if everything checks out ;)

No problem, they are a outstanding company! When you do pull the trigger, order it directly through them. That way, if anything goes wrong, it’s easier for them to solve the problem or replace the unit. Good luck!

I just ordered this box this morning. PSC states that there may be an issue if you have an LS with the alternator or air compressor mounted on the lower left hand side of the motor. It didn't sound like a deal breaker, but you may have to "clearance" some things for it all to fit.

Just ordered mine today. I'm on 32's (my holding pattern from my 35's haha) still so would it it be dumb for me to install before I install the 40's?

If you run the cylinder assist, you will need to run the "Ford" hose configuration on the cylinder side. It is opposite the diagram in the instructions. Ask me how I know.

Came in Friday and picked it up yesterday from a friends house. This thing weighs what feels like a ton and is a massive steering box.

Has anyone installed theirs with an aftermarket track bar? Just looking but I’m running an RK track bar and thinking it’s gonna be close.

Why do you want to change it out? The stock track bar works fine here. I had an RK with adjustable joints on both ends and it would roll into the diff cover during articulation. Sold it within a week.

Its been changed for years from my X Factor RK kit. I haven't had an issue with it hitting the diff cover unless I just haven't noticed it.

I had an RK trackbar as well. And like mentioned above it would hit the diff cover on my prorock with enough down travel. Stock is totally fine and lot of jeeps here run it, including moby and Rubicat. I sold my RK tb and bought a synergy one. It has enough bend in it to make clearance.
