Jackal01's JKU build

Well I put on some Pro Comp ES9000s the other day. Ride hasn't really improved but at least going over bumps isn't so bad.

4WP totally dropped the ball, as with my experience. Oh well. Now it looks like I will need to change out the front LCAs so I'm thinking I'll buy Currie. I PMd ORE and Drew said they can delete their LCAs from the Enforcer when I buy it next year so that will help out and save me some money.

Took advantage of Northridge's sale. Bought Currie Front LCAs, Tuffy Security Deck Enclosure, PS BFH rear bumper with shackle tabs and Rigid SRQ backup lights.

Also bought a 24v Goodyear Impact wrench at Pep Boys. Comes with a few SAE sockets. Happy birthday me!

Thanks! You have a pretty GSD. How old? Zero has been at a trainer for the past 7 weeks. We should be getting him back next Sunday. So excited. We haven't seen him in those 7 weeks in person but they upload pics to my wife's FB and we see him there. Here are some from the past couple weeks.

Installed the security enclosure a couple nights ago. Took about 2 hours. Pretty nice unit. I tried to install the bumper but a sawzall isn't working well enough to cut the frame rails so my father in law is bringing home from work some tool that will do a better job. He offwred his cut off wheel but aparently whatever tool he has will do a faster and cleaner job. We'll see how it goes Tuesday! Also did a Mobile 1 synthetic oil change.

No pictures for this update but the Zerk fitting on one of the LCAs came broken off when delivered so I am just going to replace it myself instead of sending it back. Hopefully the LCAs will go on tomorrow and I will finish the rear bumper tonight. There sure is a lot of cutting of the frame rails and crossmember for that BFH bumper!

Santa was good to me this year. I got a PSC bumper, fairlead mount, hawse fairlead and windshield brackets for my KC HIDs. Oh and the grab handles. I had the Quadratec winch from my WK2. So far it hasn't let me down so it is staying until it craps out or I get "extra" money, other than what is for my next-phase. I also finally installed the Currie adjustable LCAs. Thanks to Overlander for reminding me of an lift-write up that assisted with setting the correct length. I think I did it correctly. I surely drives better (less flighty-feeling) but I haven't taken on the highway yet so I haven't confirmed if it handles better at those speeds. But now that my steering wheel is centered correctly my confidence is up about the alignment and handling.

It sure does suck living in the flat-lands. I envy the Jeeps that get to see trails and dirt on a regular or semi-regular basis. Offroad parks just don't do it for me.

After some hiccups with a return I finally got my Christmas present from the misses. I had the kicker factory upgrade ones but they were too small at 4.5 inches and even with the bracket they didn't fit well in the roll bar and they didn't fit at all up front. Hopefully these will work. 1420932256728.jpg

After taking a few days off from getting "snipped" last week I finished installing the speakers and the Currie front LCAs. Got the angle to about 5 degrees. It drives better for sure. Steering has tightened up and the steering wheel is mostly centered.

I am not sure if I did something wrong with the front speakers but the best way I can describe the bass is that it sounds as if it is "bottoming out". Edit: some songs the bass is there and other it is absent/"bottoming out". There is no depth do them. Granted price doesn't equal quality but the sound is nothing like what I heard inside car toys. I think it is just the fact I am using the stock receiver still and they just aren't getting the power they want even though the factory fronts had more bass. This was my Christmas gift from the misses and she is irritated to say the least that I am talking about the "lack" of bass. I have had aftermarket receivers in other vehicles before but also just upgraded speakers with factory receiver and nothing like this is happened. For those that know more about audio please chime in.

Well after some time of driving on the highway the flighty feeling is not there but the steering wheel is not centered. I have centered it on the ground and it drives straight/normal on surface streets but once I get to 60mph+ I have to hold the steering wheel slightly turning to the right to go straight. Occasionally I have to hold it turning left but there doesn't appear to be a reason for it. What could be causing this?

Try checking your toe settings first using this write up and then check to make sure both your LCA's are the same length.

Jackal01's build of "R2"

A couple additions to R2 today. A buddy was getting rid of a couple Halon and Halotron extinguishers in the office. I was planning on 2 dry chem ABCs but I always wanted a Halotron so I wasn't going to pass up his free offer. The 2.5lb Halon is already mounted. The 5lb Halotron will most likely go between B and C pillars and I'll get a 5lb dry chem since neither are rated for class A fires. 1425089101901.jpg 1425089115756.jpg

Love the Extinguisher mounts by the seat. Functional, easy access, and it looks darn cool with your doors off.

Thanks. Only downside is that the halon isn't accessible with the doors closed. Just have to hope when I go doorless that someone doesn't steal them.

So...she decided to cut me off then slam on the brakes before I had a chance to slow down. I swerved, my front right tire took off the bumper. My only damage that I can tell is a couple smudges on my bumper. HPD couldn't determine fault, lucky for me, so I am in the clear for her damage I think.

I bought a dash camera after getting into two no-fault MVAs last month. Turns on and off with ignition (center stack power outlet), records in 1080p, G-force sensor, microphone. Not bad for $80 plus $15 for the Micro SD card. I also moved the CB wireless microphone dock to a location allows for better view through the windshield.

The OEM battery was showing signs of failure so I replaced it with an O-Reily AGM. It was half the cost of the Sears Platinum AGM. As much as I wanted the Sears one we just didn't have the money for it.
