Recent Shooting and Discussion

So enlighten me on how they got banned, if Trump didn’t do it. Actually he sighed the bill last year, and it came into effect earlier this year.

I agree that it was banned by Trump. But it is misleading to say that Obama made them legal. Additionally, there wasn’t the same amount of scrutiny (at least publicly) around bump stocks in Obama’s era (as I don’t believe they were a main component of a mass shooting prior to LV).

I wouldn’t have expected you to dig into any of the details though.

Maybe you should check your facts! Obama did make them legal. I read the article last year, but can’t remember the exact year he did it.

The precedent behind the laws were different then. And as I said before it wasn’t a “hot button” issue in Obama’s era as bump stocks were not used in a mass shooting prior to LV. It was a no brained for Trump to ban them.

You are being misleading or mislead.

Like I said, I wouldn’t expect you to comprehend any of the nuances or circumstances during each of the time periods.

I think if we made campaign finance reform a thing, a lot of shit in Washington would change.

Votes and opinions are bought and traded almost at will. Pharma, healthcare (insurance), firearms (NRA), energy, fossil fuels, unions, etc etc all pay to make or prevent things from happening.

An overwhelmingly small number of the general population want gun laws to follow status quo. Yet, any common sense gun regs are often stalled for vote.

867 now sharkey. You feeling better? Much changed since 800?

33 Senate and all 435 House seats are up for election come November 2020. Let’s vote them all out. Overpaid and can’t get nothing done. And they want a raise!

I like seeing this thread active. I’m all for more strict gun laws, more background checking to ensure guns are put into the “right” hands. What if your house gets robbed. Back to where we started. Your gun stolen in the wrong hands.
How about we modify the handle and triggers for fingerprint ID. No fire unless matched? Also tamper proof grips and trigger assembles to avoid fire capability?
Changing human behavior? Not so much, engineer it out. Just my thoughts.

I think I may have found a way to flush out the crazy gun gun owners. Just ban all guns and require all gun owners to come forward and turn them in. The ones that do this are crazy. This will leave us with those who were former law abiding gun owners and criminals. No more crazies...

Switzerland has a law requiring all households possess a firearm. Since doing this their crime rate has fallen to one of the lowest in the world. Gun laws are like drug laws. They just don’t work and never will. Hitler had laws requiring all weapons be confiscated. How did that work out for the poor Jews?

. I happen to own an AR style .556, several different kinds of handguns, and a few shotguns.

AR .556 / 223

I’m well aware of the fact my 5.56 can shoot .223, but my rifle is a mil-spec 5.56. It’s a topic for a different thread, but they aren’t the same round and people really shouldn’t be firing 5.56 out of cheap ass rifles rated only for .223.

Define better? Lol. It has reminded me that, like the real world, even this forum has a small population of crazy, unintelligent, uneducated, racist, window lickers. So I guess that is a plus. 🥃
