The Building of Compromise

I wanted to do something similar with mine but got lazy. I initially did not trim my frame rails. It looked unfinished and the d-rings did not rotate up very well. I wish I would've done it the first time instead of removing everything. [emoji15]

Looks great! [emoji106]

Thanks. We were kinda thinking that if we don't cut it now and wish we had of, then, yes, we would be taking it all apart again. Glad we did it now.

The original plan was no winch. But the winch bumper has been looking really empty. And about a week ago, a pawn shop had a never-used Zeon 10 for a really good price. I went back today and it was still there. I just had to buy it. It was steel, so rope and fairlead are now on order.

The pawn shop does no online advertising as far as what they have in inventory. I think if they had have, that winch would have been long gone. He told me they've had it for six weeks. I couldn't believe it. So maybe call around to some and you might get lucky. At the same time, I go in pawn shops regularly for tools, and this is the first winch I've ever seen period in one of those stores.

I have been off the forum for the last week or so because of craziness, but DAMN! This thing has gone from 0-60 REAL quick. Coming together nicely.

Thanks. We didn't plan on it going this fast either. But we're both lovin it.

Nice find, Doug. I need a deal like that! Did you have to do any polishing of the drum, from the wire rope?

I couldn't believe it myself. And come to find out later, it was never even used. Not sure why someone would by something like that, not use it, then dump it. I hope there's nothing wrong with it. It works fine, I already wired it up.

No, but honestly I didn't look that closely at it being it wasn't used. I may take a look at it now that you mention it. The wire rope was near perfect.

Just went and looked at it. It's fine. There's some visual streaks from the cable on it, but nothing you can feel with a fingernail. I will have to clean the stowaway bugs off of it from our last road trip.

I got mine the same way. It's a 10-S I got for $750 because the guy was getting divorced and needed all the money he could get.

Thanks, guys. I agree it was too empty without the winch. And now we'll at least have some confidence if we wheel alone.

Dang, she is not holding back, those are all some serious off roading mods! I smell pink coil springs next!
