Well that sucks but glad to hear you're eager to take this on yourself. Looking forward to seeing the progress and your Jeep running again. :thumb:

Progress report:

It was a good day. Last night after I came in from the garage, I reread Adams thread when he did his engine. Glad I waited until I was past the point of no return.

I was already pulling the core support, hoping to leave the bumper, but after reading, decided that needed to go too.

My Wayalife family came through, as Don (Clearskies) and Alan (Mericamade) came to help. Three people is just right. Not really room for more, but plenty for everyone to stay on task. We got the engine out, and the new one in and bolted down today. Now comes the less fun part of putting all the shit back together that came out to make room.

We also popped the valve cover on my old engine to find the cam lobes on #6 to be completely gone. The new engine also has way better compression than the old, as found when turning it over to line up the converter bolts.

All in all it was a good day, but still a long ways to go.

Sadly common on 3.6. Glad you found it.

Nice work

If you didn't move so far, I would have been there to help.

Mine would have went much easier then with experience.

I'm not sure which part I hated the worst, as after each tough part would come another that was even worse.

I didn't have anything to plug my trans cooler lines, so they kept on dripping all day, mostly on me. Why can't there be a drain plug in the trans pan???

I feel like I was used as a grease rag.

Thanks for the tip on lowering the engine. That really helped to get on the upper trans bolts. Managed to not have to pull the driveshaft, so I will count that as a small victory.

If I ever loose my mind and do another one without a lift, I would pull the upper and lower intake before trying to get at the bolts or electrical plugs at the back of the engine.

Incredible job guys. Would have taken me weeks or months to get that far.

Just connect the lines together with a coupler or the tube from a ball point pen and a couple clamps.
