honestly, it's super easy to do. unplug the harness, remove the 3 bolts securing the electric motor to the disconnect gear and then install the evo no limits. :yup:

yeah i might have too cuz i tried a few things and it doesn't work, but there was alot of mud inside so i dont know if its kinda sized or something

First clean all that mud out of there!! Second the wash just sets in the middle- looks like an inverted nipple on the sway bar. That's where the rod on the EVO no Limits pushes in. Don't know why they just didn't make the rod 1/16" longer but ok.. Or I could be totally wrong!! But that's where I put my washer lol and it works fine.

I like the ability with the electric stock disconnect to turn it on and off on the trail has anyone rigged the EVO disconnect to have the same capability?

I think you have to manually turn the dial on the EVO unit. But if you pay me enough next time we are wheeling together I'll hop out and give that dial a spin for ya'! :cheesy:

not possible as it replaces the electric motor. like you, i love my e-disco but, when ours finally died on moby, i just installed one of these as it was way cheaper than buying a new unit and really, it works a lot easier than disconnecting the links the old fashion way.

Hello all,

I have a question about the harness. If I go the manual route and secure the harness will I get a dash light come on or something? I would like to know what other people do with the end of their connectors? If you wrap it up in a plastic bag and use electric tape wont the ends corrode? Just wondering. I wouldn't mind going manual because if I want to go faster I don't want the computer reconnecting then flashing the dash light at me etc...

Also just performed a 4 inch lift and need the sway bar ends. Since it looks like everyone likes to keep the factory Rubi setup and I guess it is still functional with bigger wheels, tires, lifts etc I will just replace the ends. Can I hear from people about the good and bad experiences they had with different manufacturers. I would still like a semi stiff anti roll when in use. I don't mind bobbling back and forth when I am jeepin'.

Thanks

To remove the dash light, you will need something like the AEV flashcal to eliminate the code that throws it. As for the stock sway Rubicon swaybar, it's actually really good. It provides the on-road control needed when connected and when disconnected, either by E-disco or the EVO manual swy bar disconnect, it provides unlimited articulation for off road. There really is another aftermarket sway bar that has this kind of selectable performance.

I've successfully converted an e disconnect sway bar to an air disconnect. No more electronics but can still disconnect on the fly via a dash switch.

I have heard the Rubi E-Disconnect has LESS droop then a manual disconnect.

Is this true?

StrizzyChris

No. If dc'd the rubi disco will spin freely. Your droop will be limited by link length or shock length

I have read a number of threads across many forums where the edisco stopped working due to a "dead motor" but then "for fun" people opened it up, gave it a good clean, and it was as good as new. Seems the best solution is to take your edisco, and while it functions well, take it apart, clean it, lube it, and SEAL it. the stock setup seems to have no gaskets and no sealing, so water and crap get in there, and create havok. Glad to hear you were able to get yours working again.

I have a related question.
I have a 13 rubicon and want to add a winch to the front factory bumper. I like the look of the winch mounted "in" the bumper between the fog lights. I know that the sbdisc motor interferes with this plan.
If I use the Evo manual disc and get rid if the motor will there be enough room?

My E-disco worked perfectly, the reason why I went to the EVO manual disconnect is because I hated when the factory E-disco reconnected once I hit 25mph. Out here in the southwest/west we have plenty of trails to run at speeds way above that for very long periods.

You don't get rid of the entire edisco unit...just the actuator.

Like MTG said, you are only getting rid of the actuator and it actually makes the entire set up a bit smaller/not as long. The JK in the photo below is a 2013 Rubicon, it's running a full size Warn winch between the frame rails without an issue. If he wanted to he could simply just remove the actuator and run the EVO no limits sway bar disconnect.

All you have to do is post the pic on a site like photobucket and in the writeup post the direct image link in this code
[IMG]link[/IMG#] but remove that # symbol. (I had to insert the # for you to see the code)

Hey guys, I think Iíd like to install an EVO no limits manual disconnect because it gets annoying when itís on/off at higher speeds on the trail and non useable in 2wd.... I understand that I need to also use a programmer to shut off the light once I do this... I would like to buy both items off the wayalife amazon shopping list, but the only programmer I see is the superchips flashpaq... will that do what I need....or is there another programmer (AEV) that I need to buy? And will the same programmer work for tire size adjustment?

I canít speak for the superchips. But I have a AEV Procal and that can be used for tire size adjustment as well as turning off the light once you remove the module from the sway bar among other things. Hope that helps.

The superchips will work just fine but I would recommend the evo air disconnect. Itís nice to be able to reconnect on the flip of a switch versus having to get out and do it on flat ground. Iím going to switch to the air disconnect from the no limits.

If you can trace the trigger wire, I donít see why you couldnít have the stock switch trigger a relay and then the relay power the unit.

I've found that with my new phone the size of my photos is too high. Running through tapatalk compresses the photos a little and allows for more pictures within the limit.

I donít think you would be able to use it any different than stock. I would assume you would need to be in 4 wheel drive under 25 mph for it to work since that switch is tied into the canbus.

I'd have to buy and install a solenoid for my ARB.... then add a switch for the ARB Twin in the cab (currently next to compressor) , and then figure out the switch for the disconnect..... I think I'll keep things cheap & simple.... Lol... plus it will be easy to put it back to stock if needed. Thanks guys!

Well you could leave your arb switch under the hood since it has to be on all the time anyway with the disconnect if you want to use it. You would just need one switch in the cab.

True... right now the ARB is not "keyed", it's straight to the battery.... so if I leave it on, the fan will run with the key off (which is easy to fix as keyed)... But I'd still have to open the hood to shut it off.... I think when I get to the point where I'm mounting SFZ or Painless switches in the Cab, I will re-visit the compressor switch and adding the EVO on Demand.... I can sell the No limits at that point to a member for cheap, or give it away.... Plus, I live in the city.... so when I hit the dirt, I'm there for a while..... turning a knob is no big deal. I'm pretty sure though, the first time I'm laying on my back in the Mud, Turning My Knob.... I'll be thinking of you. :daydream:

Just curious, your e-discos work fine currently?

The reason they reconnect is because it is actually safer to be connected at higher speeds and especially if making turns. The 2wd thing is kind of the pits.

I did everything I could within reason to keep my cheater button for the e-disco. But I think I fried the harness or the switch. Im now using the manual no limits. If I was running an arb compressor, I'd do the air command. No hesitation. That said, lot of folks run the manual and it does a great job for the problem it solves.

Yeah, the disco works just fine... but I have found it really easy to exceed the speed limits of the stock setup. For example the New Years run, we were movin pretty good.... but I had to stay locked as it was too fast.....or I was in 2wd. Happens almost every-time I go offroad... Iím attracted to the manual No Limits, because of the ďset it and forget itĒ factor, as soon as the Jeep sees dirt.

I have seen a few things around the internet where people have got rid of the computer board in the sway bar. Makes it essentially an electric motor that can be run off a regular switch. Might be a good option for switch on demand and no restrictions for when you can be disconnected.

Itís a pain in the ass, but works well.

Hereís the switch number you need. Make a copy because I just broke it getting it out of the trim to get a pic. Itís going in the trash.

Itís not an easy one to find and guys donít explain it well, it needs to be on/off/momentary.

It operates by flipping to momentary quickly, this kicks the lever open, then you flip it back to on quickly. This turns the magnet on holding the lever open(disconnecting)

apparently you need to update the flashcal version using spark or whatever? I'm not sure, I was actually just talking about this a few days ago with Exodus Jeeps. It seems to me like it would be under a menu, and not a DTC code since the sway bar isnt a "CEL". Check the menus! ATTEMPT to update via spark, recheck the menus. Who knows.

For what its worth, I've wasted MANY hours trying to update this fucking thing in the past, in an attempt to get the TPMS to work as I was lead to believe it could be used (Functions the AEV offers right out of the box, Oh, and 3 years later, still no success FYI) IMO, the superchips flashcal is the biggest POS, and a total waste of money. If I EVER "had to upgrade to the FlashPAC". I'll literally just throw the superchips in the trash, and buy the AEV instead. :twocents:

apparently you need to update the flashcal version using spark or whatever?

:twocents:

Do you have the older model that has the small monochrome LCD screen? I had that one for the green Jeep and had the same issue with TPMS, but i was able to do an update on it once. When i got the new jeep i got another superchips flash cal and this new one has a color screen and the TPMS feature did work out of the box, i havenít tried to do an update on it yet and it is a quicker than the old model. I know if you want the tuning capabilities you need to send in your PCM to get unlocked if you have a 2015+.

As much as I like the AEV Procal for its simplicity, thatís also its downfall. Thereís a few reasons why the Superchips is kind of worth the pain in the ass it can be. Actually it doesnít bother me much anymore, but that could be because of scaled up in terms of problems, lol.

I didn't use a Flashcal on my 12 but I did get the newest one(3571) for my 17. Update went really smoothly, I just downloaded their update tool 'ignition' and installed it on my pc. Once that's done all I had to do was connect the Flashcal to my PC and it did all the updating automatically.

The one thing I did notice though was that until I made a more major change like tire size or gearing it didn't Vin lock or accept/retain certain changes. Once I changed tire size and it locked itself to my jeep everything started working as advertised. It's fast and really easy to use. I have no experience with the flashpaq so I can't comment but I believe the Flashcal has the ability to make all the same changes as the flashpaq minus new tunes.

Thanks Man! Donít get me wrong... the flashcal interface looks bitchin... and should handle tire/gear changes etc, perfectly.... also dig itís other features. And it did update automatically when plugged into the ignition software.... it just wont turn off the dam sway bar light... Just looking for the easiest way to accomplish this aside from removing the bulb or covering it with tape or something.... No real world problems here, just a little OCD.. haha. Iíll spend the $130 on AEV to ease my ďpainĒ if needed...

No rush on any of this, I can put a photo of my kids in front of it for now... Lol

Has anyone had the gear on the passenger side of the housing get stuck to the housing and not rotate at all while the sway bar rotated fine? I feel like the gear somehow came off the sway bar.
I tried to somehow remove the gear to see how it attaches to swaybar but no luck.

I just picked up a broken rubicon sway bar that the motor stopped working, Iíve got a 2.5 lift on my Jeep and want to know which swaybar links do you recommend? Would I use the rear?

I used the rears. 3 years since the nolimits install, haven't had any associated problems that I know of.
