I think Kimmel started getting more political when he had the realization that parents of children born with similar heart defects (and things of the like) would have a much tougher go (than he and his wife because they're wealthy) if it were not for Obamacare.

Disect that all you want...but it struck a chord for him I guess.

Regardless, no parent should ever have to worry about bankruptcy because their kid is gravely ill. I'm sure we can all agree there.

God. Now we are on Obamacare? The only thing Obamacare did for me was raise my premiums to the point where we decided it wasn’t worth the money it cost anymore and went to an HSA. So my family had to go to lower tier insurance because of the rate increases for.....?

Jimmy Kimmel is a tool that is paid for to say what he is told to.

As far as Obamacare, no one should force anyone to have health care or not. That is not right.

I have SEVERAL personal experiences with extreme medical costs involving my children and yes it sucks. But the reason for this is that our entire economy is based on DEBT rather than living within our means and the cost goes up for everybody. It doesn't help that the hospitals are decorated like 5star resorts. Someone has to pay for all that pretty shit. My youngest son had a major emergency at birth. Just the room (no doctors, no medicine, no tests) was 96k for 7 days. Guess what, Obamacare wasn't there to help. That's a whole nother issue, but it has caused more harm than good. Oh, and no, we didn't get to keep our doctor.

Jimmy Kimmel is a whore.

Do you pay attention to crime rates else where in the country, the world? If we are talking per capita deaths per city or country at the hands or doing of another person you would not go down this rabbit hole. Race is not the issue here. Guns aren’t the issue here. You are picking out a small group of events that were highly publicized. What about suicide bombings? What about crazed people behind the wheel of a car? The issue is much deeper than the tools used to kill. Taking away one tool will lead to using another. I don’t think mental illness is the issue either. I’ve seen plenty of mentally ill people get jobs and become successful contributors to society. A single race is not the only one committing these crimes.

And what I'm looking for is the in-between. The thought/logic/motivation, etc. that makes the man *need* to choose the tool.

*it can be fucked up logic, but it's still their logic.

Why do a very small fraction of the total world population of Muslim males make the choice to bomb an airport terminal or use rental trucks to mow down a crowd of people? They're bored and just looking for kicks??

No. They're pissed off about something, right? The US and other western occupation either directly or by proxy of their holy land?
Is that the standard answer?

All I'm asking is what does it take for the common demographic that just happens to by far be white to do that. Anger about something?? If so, what??

Do these shooters feel that their racial identity is threatened in a society becoming more diverse? Charleston, SC; Roseburg, OR

Are they victims of bullying? Columbine, CO

Are they just so jacked in the head that they need to make a statement through destroying some easy innocent targets in such a way that will be horrific and awe-strikingly evil? Sandy Hook, CT; Aurora, CO

They hate country music? Las Vegas, NV
Seriously, what the fuck flipped that guy's switch? Does anyone know?

BTW..I know that this isn't an exclusively white thing...Virginia Tech, San Beradino and Orlando are great examples.

I'm floating thoughts here searching for feedback.

Whatever race, mental state, size of vehicle or magazine capacity, we need to start looking at motivations instead of the tools.

Example: What isolates these people and what are we as a society doing that causes that?

It's a discussion, right?

I’d say that’s fair as long as ERs can refuse care for individuals w/o insurance who cant provide payment up front.

If they cant afford insurance, how are they going to pay for it up front? This is not a cost that should fall on the middle class to subsidize insurance for people that can’t afford it. Like I said, my family shouldn’t have had to drop our insurance down to an HSA from an HMO because we couldn’t afford the rate increases.

This rabbit hole has gotten deep...

White or not, Saying race has anything to do with violence is just as stupid as saying guns have anything to do with it. The color of someone's skin or their weapon of choice has NOTHING to do with the choices they make. And I could really give a fuck what the statistics show in regards to that.

If people were all the same color you'd be right.

But sadly, there is a correlation between race and identity in society and that in turn motivates people to do some pretty fucked up shit in the name of that identity.

It just seems with shootings lately that it's white people. Just wondering aloud if there is something to that.

Ummm, no. The statement you just made is the most illogical statement so far in this thread. Everyone here reading your statement is now dumber because of it.

It is indeed a rabbit hole. When the uninsured do not pay their bills, the cost eventually trickles down to the insurance premiums paid by the middle class.

And thinking like yours is why these shootings will continue.

Gotta step up and ask the tough questions if you're ever going to inspire change.

Thinking like mine is why these shootings will continue?!? Are you really that fucking retarded? So you're saying that white people are a major reason in shootings? Wow, your mother should have swallowed. Every race should be offended by your thinking skills.

Wait?
Did this whole ACA thing spin off from the main discussion because I said the word "Obamacare" in describing Kimmel's motivations?

If so...my bad.

You just can't seem to contribute to a serious discussion without resorting to insults when someone challenges your POV, can you?

That must be really rough; to be entertaining but not taken seriously.

No worries, I forgive you.

I'm just not a racist like you are. And I would rather use critical thinking other than racial motivation like you do. No need to forgive me, I have nothing to be sorry for in regards to my comments to you.

I'll be happy to state it again: You are racist and illogical and your opinions aren't relative to anything involved in this thread.

Edit: I see you just deleted your post. Don't worry, I quoted it first before you deleted it so everyone here can see it. No need to be a pussy. If you believe something, come out and say it.

Umm...I'm asked for an opinion on a possible correlation but don't seem to recall saying being white was a "major reason".

In any case, I cant help but notice that you just can't seem to contribute to a serious discussion without resorting to insults when someone challenges your POV, can you?

How in da' f@&k did Kimmel, Obamacare & Race get brought into this? :grayno:

There is no ONE right answer or solution here.....

But it seems to me in This case the "System" failed pretty hard.... 39 police visits to this kids house in 7 years for various issues involving him & his brother... 2 tips from internet concerns, months before the shooting. FBI notified but no follow through.... FAIL

1. There needs to be better cohesivness between departments to handle these threats faster and more efficient. School databases need to be tied into these systems.
2. Gun Laws that may (or may not) help, could include: raising the purchase age to 21 for ALL firearm purchases. "Boys" should not be buying guns.. ALL purchases should require background checks, testing and physical training. (And possible renewals every few years)
3. Schools need better security. Metal detectors, on site armed patrol etc.... it's too easy to enter campuses. This is difficult & expensive, but changes are needed. Teachers and students must continue to Speak up when the warning signs are there.

Banning the AR15 will probably happen. And fix Nothing. Unless we magically round up the 3 billion firearms... Guns will always fall in the wrong hands. So giving up our rights to protect ourselves is out of the question. Thats just being Realistic.

The Media NEEDS to stop glorifying this crap... first thing I thought after Columbine was "CopyCats" and the media has been fueling it ever since...

Things that will NEVER change: Shitty Parents, Crazy, Thugs, Ignorance... This battle will never end... so as a society we better get our shit together and learn how to confront it... and get priorities back in check... This Kardassian hypocritical hollywood wannabe lifestyle filled with disrespect & Politically Correctness has got to end.

It all starts at Home... One way we can fight the battle... is in how we raise & protect our kids (which should NOT end until we are in the grave).

I agree with damn near all of it.
