Don't let him get to you. Haters are gonna hate.

I love what you've done! Good job!

My ride- 2001 power wheel, 11" plastic tires, upgraded battery, boat sides, custom bumpers, tow hooks, new paint.

Does it "feel" better than the 3.8? From the numbers it looks like the 3.8 should beat the 4.0

I think he was doing it for better fuel economy. Besides- the 3.8 is and will always be a minivan motor!

I have never driven the 3.8 version. My JKU was a 2.8 CRD with 545rfe. It was a pain on the ass and it was a gutless waste of space. Sure it looks good on paper but a cant feel any advantage over the 4.0 AW4. I know a lot of you guys in the states dream of the CRD but I hated the damn thing.

He dont bother me. I only replied because I was not sure if he was being positive or negative. He never replied because he obviously just lurks behind his keyboard like a little girl on facebook sending bitchy remarks.

ah, yeah I've heard the same thing about the 2.8 CRD, not an impressive engine and definitely holds up to the noisy smelly diesel stereotype afaik. Too bad you couldn't get your hands on a 3.0 ecodiesel from a new grand cherokee, that would be interesting! Anyway, this is a really neat swap man!

I would not even entertain any common rail diesel. Ive had a few including the 3.0 isuzu diesel in the slightly shorter bed version of the crew cab chevy colorado. I had it imported from thailand. Was better than the 2.8 but still had electrical gremlins I never managed to fix. I went with the 91-95 obd1 4.0 because it is proven time and again. And because its a true american jeep engine. I dont want euro crap turning my transmission.

And I've heard horror stories about water in diesel on the islands (yours and that little one Down Under) taking out fuel systems and engines.

On the swap, the 4 liter is pretty proven as a long living even with tons of abuse engine too

No it's just a really shitty swap... I was expecting it to look somewhat professional . Not "hating" just could never imagine spending the time and money to have my dash look like a child installed the cluster and a motor that is not really that much of an improvement over what u had. If u really wanted a 4.0 u should have bought a TJ . And if u truly wanted to improve ur Mpgs (it's a 4 door box that weights 4 thousand plus pounds) u should have got urself a Prius or scooter ...

The 4.0 in my MJ has 228K on it and it still pulls like a freight train, burns no oil, and has even compression on all six. The 4.0 is a solid engine and this is a good and very interesting swap. For sure it will take some time to work everything out. That's the nature of engine swaps. Well played so far.:thumb::thumb:from me.

Its not finished. I needed to get it on thr road for work. I need to drive 82 miles each way. Im not a miracle worker and ive done all the work myself. Im only using the xj cluster while the dash is out. Im making a custom cluster with the JK parts as we speak. I didnt want a tj.

You're a life one huh? Seems your only real purpose for being here is to show everyone how cool you are by swapping in a 4.0.

My 95 XJ has over 260,000 miles. Using it to tow a lawn trailer. 4.0 Is with out a doubt a very great engine.

Im not quite sure what you're trying to say. Im on here because I thought people might be interested. If I can help people in the process through this or any other thread I post up then all the better. If you dont like the thread then dont look at it.
