If I ask for an opinion I ask for it knowing it can be good or it can be bad... If your asking for an opinion with the assumption that is gonna be all good than its no wonder people are getting so butt hurt. Learn to take the good with the bad criticism and move on.

Unfortunately, in todays world everyone gets a trophy. Just like tee ball. So many have grown up being told they are perfect.

No matter where you go what you do, right or wrong. there shall always be someone with a negative opinion or comment. That's just life.

That's the way I see it.

I love that Eddie and the Mods bring criticism to the forefront, they don't hide when someone calls them on something, they don't delete threads when people accuse them of stuff. They are extremely helpful to everyone and if you ask for an opinion they give it. When I had an issue with my Jeep, Overlander responded quickly with an answer to diagnose my issue. We need more people like them who are helpful and not necessarily PC. If they recommend a product over another because of build quality to save you more money down the road it's all the better. You may feel like everyone is leaving, or is angry, as this is a community and like any community you stay or you get tired and move somewhere else. When I look at the numbers Wayalife has added nearly 3000 new members since the beginning of the year so obviously plenty of people are still moving in and WAL is growing so Eddie must be doing something right.:thinking:

Thank you for that. Honestly, even if I weren't doing something right and I really were running this forum into the ground as some seem to believe - so what! I didn't start this forum to be some kind of popularity contest - I started it for ME. I wanted a place where I should share what I've learned and I consider myself lucky to have met so many great people all around the world because of it.

You are so right. It really is amazing how people get so butt hurt when others don't agree with their opinion.

It seems like the last few that have gone off the deep end act like Eddie and the other moderators are supposed to keep their opinions to themselves. Simply crazy.

That's because they seem to think they're entitled to an opinion but we aren't because of our "titles". Somehow, we're supposed to be "above it all" like some kind of Sunday school teacher. :rolleyes2:

Like you said, no point in arguing. :thumb: Issues can easily be resolved in PM form. To me, boils down to this....Don't like the forum, take a break or leave. Don't like a particular thread, don't read it or respond in it.

I've only been a member of this forum for the past 4 months maybe? I've only had my Jeep for 6 months and joined this forum after I saw the Rubicon videos. I read often and while I don't post a lot, I have gained a ton of knowledge here that I didn't get on a different forum. When I do get the Lift/tires/accessories I want, it'll be based on what I've seen (Eddies videos) not just what somebody says. Heck, if you followed one of the other forums, we would all have Grade 8 bolt kits and nobody would use the stock tire carrier!

To the OP's original post, most of the threads where I've seen people get upset is when they come here as say "I'm thinking about Brand x but what do you think about Brand Y?" It seems they have already decided to go with Brand X and then when Eddie (or some of the very experienced members) come back and refute Brand X, then they get confrontational and then it progresses to the"everybody else was right, this forum, blah, blah, blah. I'm watching and learning based on what I see and I see that Eddie KNOWS his stuff. When he or some of the other guys here recommend something, you can bet it's been proven. I'm going to be ordering a windshield decal and some fender decals for my rig soon and I'll proudly display them. And if someone asks me about them I'll tell them if you want the best No nonsense advice (as well as some funny stuff, too) this forum is the real deal. My :twocents:!

I seriously considered a pm. The only reason I didn't was that you have made it very clear that this is an open forum where things stay out for everyone to see. Also- it wasn't directly to you- more the forum as a whole.

People tend to jump on the bandwagon and "take a few swings". I'm just letting people know where I stand on that. If this would have been better as a pm, my apologies. You could even lock the thread and give me a call. I'm not angry, and won't come unglued. Again- that's not what this thread was intended for.

As far as parts that I have vested interest in..... My jeep doesn't have real parts. Haha. It's ..... Well- you've seen it- "homemade" 

This is why I made the thread. The general opinion of wal is not the same as we see it.

So, what you're trying to do is impose your opinion as to how we should be doing things.

It's the point when it turns hostile and people keep egging it on that gets to me. It's the point where it's no longer helpful, an just starts useless trash talking.

But, that's just your opinion.

I have friends telling me to come to different forums saying they are nicer etc. I don't want to... I like it here- I just can't believe how many people are leaving and what I am hearing about wayalife anywhere but online. Online everything is just peachy- in person, people are on the edge.

And exactly, how many is many? And really, if they want to leave, why isn't that okay?

The point that I am talking about, is after the opinions are given and the trash talking starts. It seems like nobody can just leave a simple opinion anymore without something turning into a fight

You being a mod are supposed to be teacher or referee if you will to guide the forum in the right direction. When you jump down someone's thought so fast and hard like you do a lot then all the others follow your lead because you are a mod it does no one any good. Basically when you say and so it begins you just set a fire and all the guys out there that look up to you line up with gas to throw on the fire and it makes them feel like they are doing something good rather than calmly explaining the rules (this does happen just not all the time) You need to have a special set of skills to deal with the public that you don't seem to have.

LOL - I think you've confused our moderators with your preacher. These guys are just regular members who've agreed to help enforce MY rules and on their time. Maybe I need to change their titles to something different so that they don't have to carry the baggage you seem to think they should be carrying.

I know how hard it is to see the same mistakes made day in and day out I deal with this daily at work. You need to find a different way to get your point across to the poster. This forum has a PM feature you can go that route and depending on the thread you should maybe have a lock feature that stops posts after the infraction has been explained.

Sounds like you've got this forum thing all figured out. Perhaps you should start up your own and run it however you see fit :yup:

Honestly, Get involved .... If you check out all the threads, make a run or two personally talk to a few of these guys you will understand why they work so hard to protect this site. I mean for me I've been around before I had my Jeep I wheeled Toyotas I have been on a lot of other sites and you know what I am here , daily I don't ever need to check anything else because the people you want to wheel with are right here, the info you need is right here. I've seen it posted before by a mod or two and I agree WAL is a privilege not a right. It's really up to you as a person to find your place here and get in where you fit in but if it doesn't work for you that's fine too just don't see why blasting the this Forum,Eddie or the MODS will help anyone in anyway.

Like I said many times already- I'm not going anywhere (though it sounds like some may want me to) This is my only forum and I'm not joining another. I like the honesty, I like the facts, and most of all- the people.

Guess I just handles this all wrong, and for that I am sorry.

I started to tune this out and have been touch-and-go busy so I haven't read everything but I wanted to comment.

Do I agree with every comment or view that is typed on WAL? Absolutely not! This said, I don't feel personally tied to them just because I am a member/user. I do see/hear some comments about my shirt and stickers but frankly I don't give damn. Honestly, if someone is so quick to judge me personally because of anything I wear (or drive) they can go to hell. They aren't my kind of people anyway.

I hear all sorts of "Eddie and the mods are the devil". My personal experiences have been nothing but positive (even on topics we disagreed on). I am acquaintances with some who have left in both a quiet and not so quiet manner. The situation between them and Eddie and/or the mods are just that, their situation it has in no way impacted my time here or with them.

I agree that things go a bit too far sometimes for me... my fix is to quit participating in the thread. It's really not that hard....

For me, I would recommend that you just remove your decals and not wear shirts that support this forum. If you want, I'll even send you a refund for buying them in the first place.

Not going to happen- they are my favorite shirts.
I may even need to buy another hood decal depending how I repair my hood after yesterday's trip!

So, don't get me wrong but, where have you been in all the offending threads that you speak of? I looked through some of your post history and couldn't find an example of where you came to the defense of someone being swung at.

While I'm not saying this is what you're doing, you're starting to look like you're grandstanding here - like you're standing on a street corner making sure to pray out as loud as you can so that everyone around you can hear how good you are.

If you really want to make a difference, here's a bit of unsolicited advice that I will give to you and you can take or leave it. Do more and say less. Your actions will speak louder than words and if what you're doing is really good, people will follow your lead.

It's no different than when others come and say generalizations. You sort of blew up an issue you thought was happening in a few threads with a few handful of people. If you don't like the way a thread is going... get involved in that thread and state your business and opinion there. Or, shoot folks a PM at that time and specific to that issue. They might listen. They may also not care and tell you to pound sand. This forum is just peoples opinions and what they personally have experienced. Or maybe they only state what they read here or elsewhere...BFD!

Just like sports, politics, religion, parenting, etc, etc there are always differing opinions. I'm not on any forums for those things. I'm on a Jeep forum because at the end of the day its just a "car" and one shouldn't take this place too serious. Contrary opinions here shouldn't carry much weight. I don't spend time talking to my wife and kids about someone not liking my bumper choice. But I sure as hell talk to them about BS at my work, how the kids are doing at school, what trips we have planned or other personal family issues. Because that is what really matters. Not the fact that folks apparently really don't like the idea of amber rock lights. :cheesy::tantrum::tearsdrip:

Pretty sure asking the question " Can we turn this around" is a slap in the face to the owner of mods of the forum. Your basically stating something here is WRONG and your "friends" are leaving in bunches so really you are blasting everyone here involved. If you have been involved as much as you say and you still feel the need to justify your shirts and stickers to others and let them know to come and check out the site with a disclaimer then again it's disrespect to all those that are here posting and responding on a daily basis.
