Bed mounted spare or none at all?

OK, so now I have 4 days left on my trip to Moab and side walled a tire. Would you run without a spare or cut the trip short to crawl another day?

First of all, let me point out the irony of this thread. 😂

Secondly, I'm glad you decided to bring a spare after all... I find it hard to believe that there is no shop in Moab that doesn't stock a 40" tire to replace your spare. I'd be looking to buy another one before cutting my trip that short. One day, maybe, but half the trip? That would suck.

Maybe I'm missing something but all I see is a tiny cut in the rubber. Unless you're saying the tire is no longer holding air, I think you're making a big to do out of nothing.

This ^^^^

I'm on day 5 of out of 9 and wheeled the crap out of this Jeep. The tires have certs from DTD, but it will take 4-5 days to get them. I may just lay low the rest of the week and live to wheel another day. Will definitely have a second spare to keep my truck before my next trip.

I have a sense of humor about it all. The bed mounted spare worked great for my use. I'm glad I had it.

Clearly, we all have our own idea of what "wheeling the crap out" of a Jeep is. Looking at how shiny and clean your ring is, you could have fooled me.

I'll see if I can get another tire tomorrow or use it as a worst case spare.
Lots of other cool things to do in that area, like hikes. You won't be twiddling your thumbs if you don't want to. Still, hope you can find another spare though. If you can't, I think there are still areas you'd be fine without one.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by wheeling the [emoji90] out of your rig, like Eddie alluded to, your rings look unscathed.

I don't understand why that is important to you, but you are welcome to check out my build thread. I've been posting pictures of my trip. These wheels were brand new before the trip and I can assure you that every single one of them have numerous rock scuffs. If that doesn't do it for you. I'll be here for the rest of the week if you want to show me how it's done.

When I was out there in October, there were a few outfits renting jeeps on 35's. One of the guys in our group did that and wheeled the snot out of it. They give you a list of trails you're not supposed to do but he didn't let that stop him. You could always rent one for a few days. Or try out those RZR things that are buzzing all over town.

True, just a bit disappointed.

I may also try renting / borrowing a spare front one of the shops out here or running out to Grand Junction. There is a Discount Tire there who may be able to get another Cooper in time.
