What 100,000+ Miles of Going to the Mall will do
The main reason why we started to work on Moby’s EVO Lever system is because we started hearing a distinct clunk in the rear end. After a closer look, I noticed that the bushing on the cantilever arm was blown. Kind of hard to imagine being that the it’s only got 100,000+ miles on it and all we ever do is go to the mall and back.
The first sign of something being wrong was an obnoxious squeaking that we’d get from time to time. That alone was a red flag but even after giving things a thorough visual inspection, it was difficult to spot. I had planned on taking things apart but just kept putting it off until we were getting the clunk. That’s when I started to look harder and noticed the passenger side cantilever arm leaning in a bit.
It might be hard for some to see but upon a closer look, I could totally see that the bushing was blown.
After pulling the cantilever arm off, this is what we found. The bushing on the left is what a blown bushing looks like and the bushing on the right is what it should look like.
Fortunately, we were able to get a pair of new cantilever arms from EVO.
